Temporary Store Closure at
Sheng Siong- Bukit Batok 440 Store

  • A store employee has tested positive for COVID -19
  • Store to be closed for deep cleaning from 16 May to 17 May, on top of routine deep cleaning conducted on 1 May and 15 May
  • All employees in close contact with staff have been isolated
  • All employees of the store will be sent for swab tests

Singapore, 16 May 2021 – Sheng Siong was informed that one of its employees at the Bukit Batok 440 store (Blk 440 Bukit Batok Ave 8 #01-10 S650440) had tested positive for COVID-19 on 15 May 2021.

In accordance with the Ministry of Health’s guidelines, the employee has since been hospitalised and monitored by medical personnel while employees identified as close contacts have been isolated and put on leave of absence, and will be sent for swab tests. The affected staff works the night shift replenishing stocks at the grocery department and has minimal contact with customers. The employee was last at work on the evening of 14 May 2021 to the early morning of 15 May 2021.

The employee has visited the doctor on 15 May 2021 because of fever and flu symptoms. The employee is fully vaccinated, receiving the first dose on 4 March 2021 and second dose on 25 March 2021. Sheng Siong is extending assistance to the affected employee and the employee’s family during this time.

 As an added precaution, all employees of the store will be sent for swab tests.

In line with National Environment Agency’s guidelines to disinfect the premises, the store will be closed at 4pm on 16 May 2021 for two days for deep cleaning procedures. Business will resume at 7am on Tuesday, 18 May 2021.

The store is SG Clean certified and the most recent deep cleaning was conducted on 1 May 2021 and 15 May 2021.

Sheng Siong sincerely apologises for any inconvenience caused and will work closely with the authorities on contact tracing. The company will monitor the situation closely and make every effort to provide a safe and healthy environment for its employees and customers.

Precautionary Measures at Stores

Since the start of the pandemic, Sheng Siong has adhered to MOH’s guidelines by implementing precautionary measures to provide a safe and clean environment for its employees and customers.

These measures include stepping up cleaning and sanitising frequency for checkout counters, trolleys and baskets. Hand sanitisers are also offered to customers at high touch-point areas including counters. Mask-up policy has been introduced at the early phase of the pandemic and disposable gloves are provided to the frontline employees. All employees have their temperature taken at least twice a day.

In-store announcements are also made at regular intervals to remind customers to have their masks on at all times and to maintain safe-distancing with floor markings in place.
