Looking for a rich and flavorful soup that brings warmth and comfort to your table? This XO Oxtail Soup combines slow-cooked tenderness with the bold umami flavour of the XO sauce.
XO Oxtail Soup – rich aroma filling the air — deep, savoury, and slightly spicy from the XO sauce. The oxtail was so tender it almost melted off the bone.
It’s not a complicated recipe, but it does take a bit of patience. The magic happens when the oxtail slowly simmers, releasing all its flavour into the broth.

Ingredients
- 1 kg oxtail, cut into chunks
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- A few slices of ginger
- 1 tomato, diced
- 2 tbsp XO sauce
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1.5 L beef broth or water
- 1 tbsp cooking oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh dill, sliced radish, and cherry tomatoes for garnish
- Bread or toast on the side
Instructions
- Searing the oxtail in a pot until it’s nicely browned.
- Add onion, garlic, and ginger.
- Pour XO sauce, tomato paste, soy sauce, and a bit of sugar
- Pour in beef broth/water, bring it to a boil, then let it simmer gently for a few hours. The longer it cooks, the better it tastes.
- Garnish it with a slice of radish, some dill, and cherry tomatoes and a piece of bread to soak up the rich broth.
This XO Oxtail Soup reminds me that good food doesn’t have to be fancy — just full of care, flavour, and a bit of patience.
